A trip in Scotland

Thomas decided to go on a trip to Scotland so he mounted his horse and went away from the court. After a few days, he arrived at the court of Scotland. He dismounted his horse and ordered the servant to announce the Queen of Scots that the Lord High Admiral arrived. I waited for her in the gardens, my hands clasped behind my back.

*The very pregnant Queen of Scots fussing over getting ready, putting on the finest furs, jewelry and flowers to appear*.

My Lord Thomas. Please it is cold. Come inside.

Thomas bowed deeply as he saw the Queen.

-Your Majesty

He said and entered the grand castle. It was full of luxury and splendor. The royal tapestry was fitting wonderfully with the paintings , the chandeliers and the furniture.

-So your pregnancy is in good progress

He noticed smiling as he looked at her belly.

I hope so. Otherwise I may end up as my cousin Mary did. Is this a diplomatic voyage or a personal one?

-It's a friendly one. I have not been sent in any mission, Your Majesty.

He replied .

*Smiles broadly and adjusts my tiara so that the sun shines directly through a large diamond in it's center, sending a smattering of prismatic light skipping across the paving stones*.

That is wonderful to hear.

*Inside my insides are boiling. The Scottish are rebelling. They have no intention of returning to French rule. A visit from one of the most famous, protestant Englishmen alive is an absolutely brilliant publicity coup*.

Require you refreshment?

-Yes, Majesty, I need some refreshment, so I thought that Scots would be a nice place for it.

He smiled.

Of course. Some whiskey, wine? I have this lovely concoction from the new World, it is called orange juice. Would you like to share some with me?

-Well, I think that a goblet of whiskey would be great. A mix of whiskey and orange juice.

He winked.

-A new lovely thing from the New World. The mix of the drinks.

Is it not wonderful? *Bids Lusty, the loveliest of my four beautiful Maries to make our drinks for us*.

So do tell me Thomas, what brings you to Scotland?

-I simply missed your company at court, Your Majesty. Long time not seen you.

He smiled.

You came all this way, to this barren cold Kingdom simply to see me? *Bats my eyelashes and blushes alluringly*.

*Lusty brings the drinks in and slowly serves us*.

*Lifts a glass in toast*. To England, eh?

-Why not, Majesty?

He said looking at her.

-And to Scotland.

Thomas said winking at her.

Because Catherine will remove your balls with a spoon! To Scotland *Downs in one gulp*.

-Why, Majesty?Just because I wanted to visit the Queen of Scots?

He asked.

-To England.

He said and sipped from his goblet.

Exactly. The Enchantress of the North, the Man-eater. I chew them up and spit them out. And Catherine is doubtless jealous. I have met your sister, my dear aunt Jane, you are most unlike her.

-I am glad to hear that you have met my sister. I loved her very much. And, yes, I am unlike her. Well, she was woman. Then, she inherited my mother's personality.

And you, your fathers?

*Thinks of the tale of old Seymour swiving his son's wife*.

-My father has died. Poor old Seymour.

He said looking down sadly.

Oh? I am very sorry. *Puts a hand on your knee*. I am sure that you must miss him terribly!

-Don't worry, Majesty. I know he is in a better place, despite of his sins.

He replied .

*With a small thud, Francis, who was visiting his wife, knocked on the door*

Marie? Are you busy?

Yes, I am, but for you my Lord, I shall cast my business aside.

*Casts a glance at Thomas, begging him to forgive the interruption*.

Thomas nods smiling then turns and looks at Francis. He bows his head and stands up.
