Citizens of the Empire rejoiced at the Empress's return, as they were getting a bit sick of the all-black all-the-time fashions.

The birth of the Imperial couple's new son, Fernando, was greeted with celebrations, jousts, and bullfights.

Rumors are floating in of two marriages between members of the Habsburg family and royals of the British Isles. The Emperor's bastard son, Don Juan, is rumored to have wed the Queen of England, while King Felipe's oldest daughter, Infanta Isabel, is engaged to the heir of Scotland. No official announcements have been made, but the stories raise hopes for the fate of Catholics in those lands. Further, it is hoped that Don Juan's influence will stop English attacks on the Flota de Indias, allowing them to deliver their New World treasure to Spanish soils unmolested. Some particularly hopeful souls think the alleged marriage will mean the end of English support for the rebels in the Low Countries, so even more of the wealth will stay in the home country. If either of the rumors is true, it means the Throne of England will be allied with the Empire through the next generation.
