I've always been fascinated by this period of time .

Wow! I am alot older than all you guys. I grew up on the BBC series from the late 60's or early 70's & Anne of the 1000 days. But I think it is so heartening that the Tudors still interest people. How did you come to follow me? Because I was checking my followers one day and you were there. Since I'm like a diehard Boleyn Fan I was like LOL WHAT THE HELL? So I decided to tweet to you ;0

Sometimes I go on twitter and search myself and then politely introduce myself to whoever likes Anne Boleyn! Usually it works!

I am a 16 year old boy and Anne and Lexiadextrous got it right, I am S00perF33tus (on Twitter)! I started my account as Marie because I offended Anne really bad, and I wanted to make it up to her, or at least have friendly debates instead of being an a-hole to her. Sorry Anne!

Also, I've always loved Marie Stuart and been convinced of her innocence, and I wanted to defend her aptly and competently.

Aha! I am also a sleuth. I like it when you are S00perF33tus or QOS. People don't have to be nice to me. I love a good row as much as anything else! Marie Stuart is fascinating. I keep meaning to read Antonia Frasiers book o n her. I tried to read the books by Weir & Gregory but didn't like them. The movie with Glenda Jackson as Elizabeth and Vanessa Redgrave as Mary is pretty great though.

I like the Alison Wier book very much, because she thinks Marie's innocent (and no, she's not a blind apologist) but Antonia Fraser's book is good too. Also it's more fun being Marie because her views aren't mine, I'm bisexual Marie is violently homophobic. Marie is Catholic while I'm Protestant, Marie hates Elizabeth I REALLY HATE Elizabeth!

My name is Emma-Jane, I'm 30 years old and I'm a Tudorholic! *giggles* My mother brought me up on films like Anne of the Thousand Days and Young Bess as well as the Elizabeth R miniseries with Glenda Jackson... and when I asked questions abut what happened next she would unfold the huge royal family tree out across the carpet, help me find the 'characters' from the films and then we'd get the encyclopedias and royal books out and look them up!

All this from the age of about five, so I was very apoilt and constantly baffled by her insistance that she is not academic. What is such a process but academic?!

I pledge my undying devotion to Queen Elizabeth Tudor and if she were alive and infront of me I would fall to my knees and kiss the hem of her skirt in reverence. I have been brought up Protestant and she is truly like a secondary level of idol to me, sort of just slightly below God et al. I believe in the 'divine right' of Kings though I don't think Elizabeth divine. I choose all those I admire because they have done something great with their lives despite their own faults and troubles.

I'm about to start reading The Other Queen by Philippa Gregory, has anyone else read it? It's about Mary Queen of Scots' time in the household of George and Bess Talbot. I love the way Ms Gregory writes her historical fiction as she manages to twist the facts slightly giving me new insight into the characters and new ways of thinking about them as people.

I've read it. I really didn't like it, she kind of makes her characters cardboard cutouts. Mary is regal, Bess is a shrew, George is a naive idiot. And she also thinks Mary's innocent so ...

Bess of Hardwick was most deffinately a conniving shrew... but that is why I also admire her a little. It amuses me that a woman from a more humble background to raise herself to such a level and constantly be in power of her own destiny. And all in an era when it was assumed women had no thoughts in their heads!

In that she beat both Marie and Elizabeth at being rich, powerful and free without any of the perils of a crown, LOL!

Oh I love Elizabeth R also I rewatch it every few years or so. In some ways I love Elizabeth even more than Anne. I love how she said if she was turned out in her petticoat anywhere in Christendom she would survive. She hated war. She really loathed executing the Queen of Scots. She was vain. She loved clothes. She was good & loyal to her surrogate family. I think she cared about her mother even though she never legitimized herself. She was very practical, quite the Virgo! And a redhead to boot! What's not to like.

Well ... Elizabeth lied like she breathed. And as much as she didn't want to execute Mary, she still did it. Elizabeth was vain, cruel, deceitful, vain and arrogant. She was also intelligent, a survivor and loyal to some.

A typical Virgo!
