| Well I confess that thou art charming and well-dressed but ...
... as long as your Elizabeth's Champion you will never marry me. She would never consent to not be the center of attention, which if you married me, would be the case.
And dearest Elizabeth (Tudor), you may not order me not to speak. I am a Sovereign and your equal, thou hath no power over me. And your breath stinks.

| Elizabeth would give me blessing to marry who I wished so long as she believed them to love me and not bring me to harm | |

| Nicholas, if you don't mind me saying so, thou art naive or lying.
Elizabeth's jealousy is famous as her wigs! And I am her greatest rival. Your relationship wish us BOTH will always be altered by the others presence.
And doth thou have any idea what to get her for her birthday? i want something that says "Give me your crown or suffer, Pagan Bitch" in a very nice way.

| Oh, please, Nicholas. Finish your sentence! What is it that you thought?
That I love you? That I enjoy your company? That I am charming and beautiful? What 'tis it that you thought?

| Oh, stop your self-pity. Just tell men what you were going to say!
This is NOT a game between Elizabeth and I, nor a competition. I find thee charming and handsome. Why can thee not except that?

| *roars with laughter at the proceedings*
Indeed Marie we are both annointed Queens but when it comes to the crown upon my head thou art severely beneath me as you wudst do well to understand and accept.
If a true briton is a pagan with a spiritual heart and learned mind then I doth indeed accept your term you insolent french harlot.
*laughs joyfully*
Oh how I doth love our sparring cousin, would that we had been born sisters and cudst have played these games all through our childhoods. But, as things were I was abandonned and forgotten here at Hatfield with threats of death and slander as my only constancies while you enjpoyed the pamperings of a spoilt french court. I wud envy thee if I didst not appreciate the lessons I have learnt.

| *whispers to Lady Woodville*
...I doth hope my intuition is true and that Sir Nicholas doth lead her a merrie game and wilt not be harmed by her folly.
*returns her attentions back to the axe catalogue, now reminded that she hath yet to decide upon a gift for Marie*

| Self Pity!?
Fine then! I was going to say I thought that you might actaually love me
Yes poor foolish naive Nicholas was willing to give thee the benefit of the doubt despite the treachous things I have heard about you, and believe you might actaually love me.
You say you find me charming and that there is no competetion with Elizabeth but a scarce few moments ago you claimed to only be flirting. You had told me before that you found me attractive for many reasons, one amoung them was that Elizabeth would approve, yet now you say she would keep us apart.
Love me? You? No, you were right, I am naive.

Love me? You? No, you were right, I am naive. *Puts hand over my mouth* Oh, Nicholas, I cannot believe that thee would say something so cruel to me. I would have preffered it if thou hadst stabbed me. I said I was only flirting to Lady Woodville, but what else could I have said? What would not have made me sound like stupid schoolgirl? And, I will say ti again, no matter how angry it maketh you. Elizabeth wants to posses everything. She has no friends, no love, no cares. Only her cold and hard ambition sustaineth her, while I feel and hurt and grieve like everyone else! Do not judge me so harshly. Forever yours,

| Insolent French Harlot? If we were men, so help me, I would challenge thee to a duel. But as we are woman I must content myself with poisoning your pets.
What do you mean that I beeth severely behind you? My crown rests firmly on mine head, while you had to claim yours by rebelling against your sister, lying to the Spanish, and betraying me. For all your talk, our roles coul'dst so easily hath been rebversed.
And I enjoy our sparring too, dearest cousin. Now please put down that axe catalog, if thee don't mind. Axes scareth me very much.

| My Dearest Marie, my word were not meant to hurt you, I only spoke what I feel. I am an impetious man who is given to emotion and often wears his heart on his sleve.
I care not what you said to Lady Woodville, what cut me to the quick were the words you uttered to me after. You all but said that there was nothing between us and never would be, and of course you blamed this on Elizabeth.
*the anger is gone from his voice, only sadness remains*
I told you what you wanted to hear, that I thought you loved me ... all you had to say was that is was true and I would have been yours. But instead you continuted to blame Elizabeth for keeping us a part. Elizabeth is a dear friend and would I think be happier to see me with another but she IS a dear friend and would give me her blessing if I asked it. It is not her who keeps us apart do you not see that?
My God, Marie you speak of killing pets, do you not hear you're own words? It is your endless rivalery with your cousin that stands between us.
I would have taken you from here, we could have gone anywhere, sailed the seven seas ... I ... *shakes head* I know no what else to say

| I talk not of your crown, I speak of my own. I have no wish to claim yours I only wish to keep what is rightfully mine. How dare you say I wudst rebel against my sister!
Unlike you causing disruptions among my subjects is not in my nature. I love my sister and rode beside her as she went to claim her rightful throne!
I didst ride beside her again as she did wave goodbye to that slimy wicked Spanish husband of hers, and yes, maybe I do hate the Spanish King and with good reason, but I never lie to him. I just fail to express to him that I wudst defy him on every level for the memory of mine sister.

| You play a cowards game on all sides cousin! I wud that we were men for then we cud fight it out good and true and then your scheming and cowardice wudst be revealed!
I wudst not have thee torture Sir Nicholas so, but hath let you be because he doth will it!
As if if insulting my love for my dear sister, toying with mine subjects and being an unneccesary constant thron in my side is not enough, now you doth say you will injure my innocent pets! How dare thee!
*roars in anger and throws the nearest object to her hand in the direction of Marie Stuart. Tis the axe catalogue but alas paper cannot chop off Marie's head by the sheer will power of Queen Elizabeth and just smacks her in her pretty face instead*

| You are right Lady Woodville, I shudst control mine temper... but Marie doth infuriate me so!
Her inaccurate slander against my love for mine own sister as well as the implications that I wudst inflict upon the Englsigh people the kinds of battles she insites up in Scotand is unforgivable!
