| I do not think thee a fool sir, but I doth think thou art both being made a fool of and making a fool of thineself.
However, is this is thine chance for happiness then take it, but be sure to regain one's head at great speed once this nauseating period of courtship ist done with. Husbands under Marie's care do not tend to have a very long shelf life.
The first didst die young and I assume his demise was not of her doing. The second murdered her cheif musician before he hemself was murdered by her third. Her third fled across the seas and now languishes in some jail for his many crimes of pilfering, warmongering and messing with maids when he shouldst not.
*raises an eyebrow and looks Sir Nicholas straight in the eyes*
Therfore I pray that when news of the demise of her third husband reaches our shores that her fourth is of great level headeness and watches his back at all times.
...and if thou wish for children my lord, I wudst suggest you find a good household and good servants for them as Marie hath the natural maternal instincts of a Queen and hath already abandonned a son up in Scotland.

| ah my dear firnd, thou is always so honest with me, even brutally so *smiles fondly*
I have no desire to make a fool of myself but I can not seem to help myself. you alone know how very lonely I have been. And I do fear I am being made a fool of, but I find myself in my lonelyness almost willing to take that risk.
*looks around to make sure they are alone at the moment*
You alone know me truly, you alone know WHAT I am. And though Marie's past troubles me, I feel that she alone can except my curse. Save maybe Lady Woodville but she is quite spoken for I believe regretably. And you my dear Bess are quite unattainable as always or my choice would be made *smiles jokingly, but with a hint of the truth shining in his eyes*
I must confess I am so confused I know not what to do. When I am with her my thoughts become clouded and my path seems clear, but as soon as she is away doubts do consume me

| I wish thee all the best Sir Nicholas, *claps hands and smiles* Underneath Marie's obnoxiousness I do believe there is a very kind lady. For the best part, love is a curse. Inflicting us with pain and remorse, however: It is with the struggle. if thou hadst but one moment with your child, you wouldn't not have the moment because it'd hurt after. Would you? We must risk all for love! | |

| Dearest Nicholas, time is something you are unusually gifted with, so I suggest you bide your time with Marie and await to see what transpires here without making any rash decisions that cudst change all our lives forever.
Marie's moods are changable and her life is one of constant chaos and danger as well I understand being a fellow Queen in such times. As her husband your actions wudst endanger her and hers endanger you.
Though thou art brave, quick witted and gifted with a talent for survival, the penance in this land for any foul deeds is decapitation or burning and I think that even my brave Sir Nicholas cannot survive such things? You do of course have my protection but Marie, being Marie, doth strive to escape the reaches of my control.
So take care my lord, for I wudst have thee present at the very end of my days and I intend to keep my head and my kingdom for a very long time.

'tis so frustratingly easy for all others to say such things 'cept me. The love of the crown doth carry with it death, war and the destruction of lives and nations. We have not the freedom to make choices of the foolish heart. I wudst not wish anyone to run through the palace halls screaming for their life as dear Kat Howard didst when I were a child. All that for love, and my father showed her none when he cut off her head. I wudst defy love and drive it from my heart if I could.

Thank you my Lady, your kind words are a comfort for I believe you speak true, true of love and of the Lady that lurks beneth the fascade Marie would have us see.
My dear Bess I will take your wise councial and take things in time *chuckles* you are correct, time is something I hath in mass quanities. And I should not like to loose my head or have my Marie loose hers.
I too would be with you until the end of your days, I would have it no other way, and I do hope those days are long indeed.

| I do suppose he ist ransacking Spanish ships of their gold so that evil Philip hath not the finances to wage war upon my land and place Marie upon my throne!
Ooops! Didst I say that out aloud?
I do of course detest the looting of foreign ships and do not condone it in any of my fleet. *coughs*

| *Laughs* no offense taken My Lady
It would be nice to have more males with which to interact, though my vanity doth like to see such beautiful Ladies fight over me so *laughs* and of course if you were not spoken for my Lady the fight would be over *flashes her a charming smile*

| I hath toyed a little with the idea of recruiting a Robert Dudley from the guilds of my lord Leicester at Yahoo, but I fear it wudst result in me loosing my mind entirely.
And then who wudst spar with marie and akeep her in check?!
Besides, it might also attract a Knollys of the green and wrinkled variety and I wilt not tolerate the shewolfe in my court!

Judging by the pages of this thread alone, you are quite the most popular member of the court, LOL!!!

| I am here.
@Elizabeth (Tudor): I cannot believe that thou speak so of me. I thought that I had your love or at least a facade that said as much! Yet you warn Nicholas that I am a Femme Fatalle! I loved all of mine husbands , at one time or another, and no-one can say otherwise! And what was that about looting Spanish ships and putting me on your throne?
@Nicholas: Hello, dearest. I hope that thou had a good night. I have a present for you, but you'll have to guess where I have hidden it! *Grins sexily and mischieviously (OOC: I cannotn spell that word RIGHT)*. You get 3 guesses.
@Elizabeth (Woodville): Thank you for your compliment. And what facade are you speaking of? Do you mean my natural charming exterior!
